About the service

We manage a wide range of properties, which are located in various parts of Coventry and consist of single flats/bedsits and a number of shared houses for 2–8 people. Our service matches a person to an appropriate property and then provides practical and emotional support to enable the person to maintain and sustain their tenancy. All properties are furnished to a high standard to ensure that individuals are comfortable in their surroundings.

About the role

The post holder is responsible for overseeing a team of support workers who provide daily assistance to clients within our supported accommodation service.

They manage the support team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care, empowering individuals with mental health needs to live more independently. They provide leadership that fosters a positive, respectful and inclusive environment and offer guidance, training and performance management to the support team while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the service.

The post holder will lead in delivery of high-quality, person-centred support to clients.

The post holder will manage an individual case load of clients, taking responsibility for coordinating their support, monitoring their progress and ensuring their individual needs and outcomes are effectively met

The post holder is the main point of contact for clients regarding health and safety or repair-related matters. Encouraging feedback from clients on the services provided.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and motivate a team of support workers to deliver person-centred care and support to clients.
  • To work within agreed risk management guidelines and to assist service users in reducing risks to themselves or others. To promptly report all concerns regarding risks to the Manager / or on-call Manager.
  • To ensure that clients who are facing particular crisis/stress are offered appropriate additional support and to ensure that staff are supported in dealing with the most complex cases.

  • To manage a caseload of clients and oversee the development and implementation of individualised support and risk management plans for clients, focusing on their mental health, well-being and personal goals.
  • To take appropriate action in the event of emergencies, ensuring that the Manager/on-call Manager is informed promptly.
  • Prepare reports on the performance of the service, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing and health and safety legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local mental health services, external agencies and other partners to ensure seamless support for clients.
  • To provide periodic “on call” provision in rotation with other designated staff.
  • Experience of working in the mental health care sector.
  • Experience of supporting delivery to people with additional needs (e.g. learning difficulties, dual diagnosis).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team while managing and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Understanding of key issues within mental health.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Flexible work ethic, the role requires additional out of hours on call responsibilities.
  • A valid driving license with business insurance.
