Overview

As Registered Childrens Manager, you will lead a 3-bed EBD home to deliver high-quality, compliant care. You will work closely with the staff team and senior management to sustain a Good Ofsted rating and positive outcomes for residents. You drive safeguarding, care planning, and continuous improvement while building a supportive, development-focused culture. This role offers ownership of service delivery and opportunities to advance within an expanding organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day management and operation of the home
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards and safeguarding
  • Lead, motivate and develop the residential care team
  • Maintain a positive, safety-focused culture
  • Deliver high-quality, individualized care for children/young people
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and records
  • Monitor resident progress and outcomes; keep them central to service
  • Collaborate with social workers, education professionals, families and external agencies
  • Manage staff performance, supervision, development and training
  • Maintain quality assurance and compliance processes
  • Prepare for and support Ofsted inspections
  • Monitor home performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Manage budgets, staffing levels and resources
  • Ensure the home remains a safe, welcoming environment

Key requirements

  • Experience in childrens residential care
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations
  • Experience leading and developing a residential care team
  • Understanding of safeguarding, care planning and risk management
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lead from the front while supporting the team
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or willingness to pursue one (desirable)
