Overview

In this role you support the Head of Site Security to implement a robust protective security framework at Filton, protecting people, assets and information. You collaborate with security, response, reception and systems teams to deliver compliant, risk-aware security services for ongoing operations and special projects. You drive continuous improvement in security processes and incident response, balancing safety with business delivery. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary role with exposure to high-profile visits and critical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement protective security activities in line with policies and frameworks
  • Jointly manage Security Service Providers and optimize their performance
  • Assess and mitigate security risks, drive continuous improvements
  • First escalation point for security systems issues
  • Lead and support Emergency Response protocol implementation
  • Provide security input into event and project planning with integrated risk assessments
  • Coordinate security for events and temporary deployments, including high-profile visits
  • Ensure contractors comply with internal standards and KPIs
  • Embed security in operational processes and safety rules
  • Audit security suppliers for regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Drive operational delivery through MfT/drumbeat meetings
  • Generate reports and provide insights to support decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with plant managers and business leaders
  • Investigate theft, fraud, near misses, and road incidents per security protocols
  • Deputise in high-level meetings when required
  • Manage security practices and contractor performance for continuous improvement

Key requirements

  • A Level 5 qualification in Security Management or equivalent professional experience (essential)
  • Proven security management experience in large operational environments (industrial/commercial)
  • Strong Security Risk Management capabilities (risk assessment and mitigation)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to obtain government security clearance (SC) and BPSS+
