Job Description:

Overview

In this role you will support design activities across multiple projects within an engineering and infrastructure team. You’ll coordinate with design teams, project managers, and external consultants to ensure designs meet technical, programme, and budget requirements. You’ll promote safe design practices and digital engineering methods, contributing to high-quality, compliant deliverables. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to track progress and drive integrated project programmes. This is a hands-on role focused on shaping design quality and project outcomes through collaboration and digital tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across projects
  • Support development and delivery of design documentation to programme schedules
  • Maintain communication with project managers, design consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Attend design meetings, record minutes and follow up actions
  • Support implementation of safe design practices, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance
  • Manage design-related enquiries from designers, supply chain, and subcontractors
  • Promote digital design practices (BIM, DfMA, standardisation, sustainable design)
  • Assist in value engineering, buildability reviews, and integrated programme development
  • Track and report design progress, changes, and performance metrics

Key requirements

  • Good understanding of design and construction programmes
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D design tools and digital engineering platforms including BIM
  • Awareness of safety in design principles and health and safety regulations
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities, or environmental sectors advantageous
  • Degree in Engineering, Design, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Membership of a relevant professional body desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Right to work in the UK (must be evidenced)
