Overview

In this role you support wafer fab equipment across production and process engineering, tackling fault finding, repairs and maintenance to maximise uptime. You will mentor technicians, manage spares and safety, and drive TPM and maintenance improvements with cross-functional teams. The position offers exposure to advanced semiconductor tooling in a cleanroom environment and collaboration with suppliers and service providers. You will impact overall equipment effectiveness and manufacturing reliability in a fast-paced, high-precision setting.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and preventive maintenance of specialist semiconductor processing equipment, including setup and routine cleans
  • Oversee chemical, gases and spare parts control, chemical fills and waste management
  • Instruct and mentor equipment technicians and junior engineers
  • Liaise with equipment and spares suppliers and external service providers
  • Develop and deliver preventive maintenance strategies to maximise utilization and uptime
  • Ensure team motivation and clear objective communication
  • Cross-train equipment technicians and engineers to meet manufacturing needs
  • Drive Total Productive Maintenance practices within the Engineering group
  • Define and monitor key improvement projects using an 8-step format
  • Produce monthly reports on equipment performance, project status, and metrics
  • Represent the group in production, planning and scrap meetings
  • Collaborate with supply chain to manage spare parts inventory and critical spares
  • Adhere to site safety and environmental procedures
  • Support site emergency response and provide shift cover as required
  • Work in a rotating shift pattern and cleanroom environment with PPE as needed

Key requirements

  • An HNC/HND or Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) and/or 10 years of directly related experience
  • At least 5 years experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow documented procedures without close supervision
  • Ability to document procedures and generate work instructions, risk assessments and method statements
  • Good time-management and organizational skills
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working in a team and managing stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken English)
  • Self-motivated
  • Team-oriented with stakeholder management
  • Maintenance and repair of semiconductor manufacturing equipment (ASML, Trikon/SPTS, OiPT, Palomar, Temscal, Leybold, Leica, SemiTool)
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Spares and chemical handling in cleanroom/chemical environments
