We’re looking for a Principal Temporary Works Engineer to join our team based in various locations. Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth – agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desiredHours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…
- A Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CEng MICE) with significant relevant experience, or with substantial relevant experience in construction engineering
- Experienced in leading complex construction engineering services, including temporary works design
- Capable of providing technical leadership and design management across multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in delivering innovative, buildable solutions that enhance project efficiency
What will you be responsible for?
As a Principal Temporary Works Engineer, you’ll be working within the team, supporting them in delivering a broad range of complex construction engineering services. We’re seeking a Principal Temporary Works Engineer to lead the delivery of complex construction engineering services across a variety of projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a collaborative team, providing innovative solutions that are both safe and buildable. You’ll play a key role in supporting project delivery through temporary works design, bid support, value engineering, and technical leadership. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact, ensuring engineering excellence whilst mentoring and developing others. Your day to day will include:
- Leading temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works design where applicable
- Providing tender and bid support through feasibility studies, concept development, and alternative solutions
- Managing design projects, including leading multidisciplinary teams and acting as lead designer
- Reviewing third-party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements
- Offering technical expertise and advice as part of a centre of engineering excellence, supporting site teams and mentoring staff
