About the Role
Grade Level (for internal use): 13
The Derivatives Data and Valuation Services group provides independent pricing, data and valuation services across a broad spectrum of vanilla through complex derivatives to many of the world’s largest asset managers, investment banks, fund administrators, auditing firms and regulators. Key solutions include Totem, Portfolio Valuations, OTC Derivatives Data and complementary services such as Initial Margin Calculation. The global team has deep subject matter expertise across derivatives markets and maintains strong relationships with both buy-side and sell-side institutions. Our Business Development team operates at the intersection of clients, markets, Product and Sales, helping determine not only how we grow our existing services, but where our derivatives franchise should develop next. The Impact Business Development acts as the link between evolving client and market needs and our product strategy. In this role, you will have direct responsibility for driving the commercial growth of OTC Derivatives Data while helping shape its longer-term strategy. The role requires someone who can go beyond selling an existing service. You’ll need to understand derivatives products and client workflows in sufficient depth to identify emerging needs, translate them into commercially viable opportunities and work with Product to bring new solutions to market. You will also work as part of a broader global team responsible for the strategy and commercialization of our overall derivatives solutions, identifying opportunities to connect OTC Derivatives Data with our valuation, consensus, margin and other capabilities.
What’s in it for you
See your direct impact through business growth, strategic client relationships and expansion of our services
Become a market-facing subject matter expert in derivatives data and workflows
Work alongside global experts across derivatives, valuations, data, Product and Sales
Engage directly with sophisticated market participants to understand how derivatives markets and workflows are changing
Help define future areas of growth rather than simply commercializing an established product set
Develop new services and use cases in partnership with clients and Product
Contribute to the strategy of a broader, market-leading derivatives solutions franchise
Responsibilities
- Own and help execute the commercial growth strategy for OTC Derivatives Data, including business plans, target segments, sales campaigns and strategic growth initiatives
- Develop a deep understanding of OTC derivatives markets, instruments and workflows, including how derivatives data is used across trading, risk, valuation, collateral/margin, operations and related investment processes
- Work closely with clients and prospects to understand their current workflows, pain points and evolving requirements, translating market feedback into actionable product opportunities
- Partner with Product to identify and evaluate new datasets, analytics, delivery mechanisms, workflows and adjacent use cases that could expand the OTC Derivatives Data franchise
- Identify longer-term growth opportunities arising from changes in market structure, technology, regulation and client workflows
- Develop clients as design partners for new products, services and capabilities
- Conduct direct client and prospect engagement through senior-level meetings, conferences, panels, roundtables and webinars
- Build strong relationships with key market participants and develop a network that provides insight into evolving derivatives market trends
- Serve as a market and product SME for OTC Derivatives Data, providing Sales with technical knowledge, competitive differentiation, discovery questions and effective positioning
- Partner closely with Sales on commercialization, pricing, licensing structures, permitted use cases and delivery models
- Develop compelling client presentations, marketing materials, sales collateral and responses to requests for proposals
- Conduct competitor and market analysis, with particular focus on identifying gaps in the market and areas where differentiated data or workflow integration can create sustainable competitive advantage
- Contribute thought leadership through industry publications, conferences, panels, webinars and other market-facing channels
- Actively participate in sales conferences, special events, client engagement initiatives and relevant industry associations
- Work collaboratively within the broader Derivatives Data and Valuation Services team, looking beyond individual product boundaries to identify opportunities across OTC Derivatives Data, Portfolio Valuations, Totem, Initial Margin and other derivatives solutions
- Bring an enterprise mindset to client conversations, recognizing when a client problem can be solved through a broader combination of data, valuation and workflow capabilities
What We’re Looking For
- 5-10+ years of experience in derivatives, capital markets, market data, financial technology or a related field
- Strong knowledge of OTC derivatives products and markets, ideally spanning multiple asset classes such as rates, credit, FX, equities and/or commodities
- Practical understanding of derivatives workflows and how banks, asset managers and other financial institutions consume derivatives data, rather than purely theoretical derivatives knowledge
- Ability to engage credibly with sophisticated derivatives practitioners across trading, risk, valuation, operations and technology functions
- Strong commercial awareness with a demonstrated ability to identify client needs and convert them into revenue opportunities
- Strategic mindset and curiosity about how derivatives markets are evolving, with the ability to identify opportunities beyond today’s product offering
- Ability to connect changes in market structure, technology, regulation and client operating models to potential new products and commercial opportunities
- Ability to move comfortably between detailed product discussions and senior-level strategic conversations
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex client relationships with the objective of increasing revenue and strengthening long-term partnerships
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across Product, Sales and other business functions in a global organization
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to optimize for the broader derivatives franchise rather than a single product
- Ability to influence without direct authority and build alignment around new commercial and product initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex derivatives concepts clearly to both technical and executive audiences
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to challenge existing assumptions, develop new ideas and drive them from concept through commercialization
- Comfortable representing the business externally through senior client engagements, conferences, roundtables and thought leadership
