Overview
In this role you will lead data privacy across the business, shaping risk-based frameworks and partnering with product, engineering, and operations to enable responsible data use. You’ll mentor the Data Privacy Associate and ensure privacy decisions are evidence-based and credible. You’ll work with senior stakeholders to embed privacy early in initiatives and drive automated improvements where possible. This is a chance to impact how data drives products while maintaining customer trust in a regulated fintech environment.

Responsibilities
- Turn complex privacy questions into clear, proportionate recommendations to enable progress
- Build and embed a risk-based data privacy framework and view of risk appetite
- Partner with data and technology teams on data-use and data-governance decisions
- Lead responses to significant privacy issues with well-evidenced conclusions
- Develop and mentor the Data Privacy Associate through standards and problem-solving exposure
- Create trusted relationships across the business to involve privacy early in projects
- Identify manual privacy processes suitable for automation
- Represent the first-line privacy perspective with senior stakeholders
Key requirements
- Substantial practical data privacy experience with strong UK GDPR knowledge
- Ability to balance privacy rights, customer protection, business objectives and residual risk
- Ability to explain complex privacy issues to non-specialists and make defensible recommendations
- Experience leading or shaping privacy frameworks, governance, or operating models
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership of difficult problems independently
- Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships with product, technology, operations, legal, risk and security
- Experience mentoring or developing others and creating clear standards
