Overview

As Electrical Project Engineer, you coordinate HV equipment projects and ensure delivery to UK customers with strong technical oversight. You act as the key technical interface among customers, engineering teams and overseas manufacturing, translating requirements into engineering deliverables and managing risk and compliance. The role blends project coordination, technical review and customer engagement to drive successful HV equipment programs. You will work across cross-functional teams to shape solutions and support sector developments that underpin energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planning and execution of electrical engineering projects
  • Monitor milestones, deliverables and progress
  • Manage technical risks, issues and changes
  • Serve as the technical interface between customers and engineering/manufacturing teams
  • Translate customer specifications into engineering requirements
  • Review designs for compliance with project specs, standards and manufacturability
  • Lead or support Design Review Meetings with customers
  • Review GA drawings, insulation design, losses, impedance and thermal performance
  • Identify design gaps and coordinate resolutions
  • Provide first-line technical support to UK customers
  • Review engineering drawings, reports and documentation
  • Support RFIs, technical queries, design deviations and negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with UK, BS, EN and IEC standards
  • Provide technical input into tenders, bids, meetings and presentations
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management and overseas manufacturing
  • Develop local engineering capability and share knowledge
  • Maintain awareness of HV power and energy sector developments

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment (power transformers, shunt reactors or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design and standards
  • Experience in project engineering or technical coordination
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and documentation
  • Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and technical problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work across international and cross-functional teams
