Overview
In this role you will drive a proactive risk management culture across the Trust, leveraging evidence-based methods to build robust systems. You will partner with senior leaders and external stakeholders, lead horizon scanning, and shape Trust-wide risk education. Your work enables operational leaders to own risk within governance structures, aligning with the organisation’s mission to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. This is a strategic, influential position with a clear impact on safety and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Promote a positive risk culture and embed accountability for risk across the organisation
- Lead horizon scanning to identify emerging risks and regulatory changes
- Develop and deliver Trust-wide risk education to build capability at all levels
- Collaborate with senior managers, clinical leaders, and corporate functions to integrate risk into governance frameworks
- Drive the adoption of modern, evidence-based risk management methodologies
- Develop robust risk systems and tools to support proactive risk management
- Influence cross-functional teams to sustain a collective risk ownership culture
Key requirements
- Masters level subject related to the post or equivalent NHS Risk Management experience
- Significant experience in similar roles within large, complex organisations
- Experience of working in partnership with other organisations
- Practical experience of risk management and risk reporting
- Proven ability to write comprehensive reports
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
- Ability to operate with high confidentiality
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) and professional behavior
- Experience managing large teams and setting objectives
