Overview
As Principal Electrical Engineer at Arup, you’ll lead electrical and MEP design on SIT projects worldwide, aligning with sustainable, net-zero ambitions. You’ll partner with a cross‑disciplinary London team to deliver high‑impact designs and mentors, shaping solutions across hospitals, laboratories and data centres. You’ll take ownership from inception to completion, ensuring quality and effective client engagement. Responsibilities
- Produce electrical and MEP designs for projects and serve as a design authority to project leaders and discipline teams
- Act as Project Manager with responsibility for resourcing, commercial delivery and project success
- Drive development of innovative electrical system designs incorporating cutting‑edge technology for SIT buildings
- Proactively manage project activities to meet strategic/ commercial objectives and mentor junior staff
- Own the electrical design on projects, ensure quality and lead internal/client meetings with expert input
- Represent the team in key meetings, providing insights and recommendations
Key requirements
- Chartered Engineer in Building Services (or within 6–12 months)
- Significant experience in development and implementation of Electrical Engineering solutions for highly serviced buildings (hospitals, labs, data centres)
- Inquisitive nature and drive to explore new opportunities, methods, and technologies
- Proficiency in design and modelling software
- Enthusiastic leadership mindset with strong client relationship skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and mentor junior team members
