Operational Supervisor

Overview

In this Operations Supervisor role, you will oversee depot activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant waste services. You will work within the Municipal Services team to meet KPI targets and support crew performance through training and briefings. The job focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and productivity, with a clear impact on service reliability. You will be a hands-on leader who drives continuous improvement and fosters a culture of safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily/weekly/monthly tasks to meet KPIs and contract requirements
• Monitor safe working practices using CCTV, tracking systems, and on-route crew observations
• Ensure compliance with Operator’s Licence, drivers’ hours regulations, and the Working Time Directive
• Lead inductions, safety training, and site checks
• Assist Supervisors in driving vehicle and crew efficiencies while monitoring performance and competency
• Support management in ensuring operational productivity, resource planning, and budget alignment

Key requirements

• Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, operational procedures, and Health & Safety requirements
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully at all levels, both verbally and in writing
• Understanding of the Drivers’ Working Time Directive
• LGV Licence (Essential)
