Overview
In this role you drive Financial Crime and Fraud strategy within major transformation initiatives, translating regulatory and risk requirements into future business and technology solutions. You act as the neutral, second-line voice across programmes to embed controls in customer journeys and operating models. You shape end-to-end processes, data, and governance to align with risk appetite and regulatory expectations. You’ll lead design enhancements for technology-enabled controls and monitor for emerging risks, contributing to sustainable, compliant outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert Financial Crime and Fraud input across strategic transformation initiatives (NextGen)
- Translate regulatory obligations and risk appetite into future-state designs for processes, data and technology
- Define and communicate business, data, process and control requirements aligned with regulatory expectations
- Design and influence preventative, detective and monitoring controls across tech and operations
- Review solutions to identify control gaps and emerging risks prior to implementation
- Drive continuous improvement using lessons from regulatory findings and remediation
- Support delivery of digital onboarding, screening, monitoring, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities with governance and human oversight
- Influence senior stakeholders to reflect Financial Crime considerations in major decisions
- Escalate material risks and provide recommendations on readiness and implementation risk
- Perform other duties as required in the role
Key requirements
- Significant experience in Financial Crime, Fraud, Compliance or related control function in a regulated environment
- Subject matter expertise in CDD, EDD, sanctions, screening, transaction monitoring, investigations, and lifecycle controls
- Experience supporting large-scale transformation and translating regulatory requirements into practical solutions
- Knowledge of control frameworks and experience designing or enhancing preventative/detective/monitoring controls
- Ability to evaluate technology, data, automation and AI-enabled solutions for Financial Crime risk
- Strong stakeholder management with ability to influence senior leaders across multiple domains
- Understanding of regulatory requirements, risk management principles and governance frameworks
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to challenge and propose solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for risk opinions and governance papers
- ICA, ACAMS or equivalent preferred
