Overview

As a Platform Engineer at Springer Nature Technology Engineering, you shape and evolve unified platforms that empower product teams globally. You’ll help maintain a reliable, secure, and standardized foundation that accelerates delivery, while pushing a Platform-First approach and improving developer tooling. The role combines platform ownership with collaboration across a distributed team to drive usability, performance, and security. You will work on Kubernetes-based PaaS initiatives and integrate core capabilities like observability, CI/CD, and security. This is a hands-on role with meaningful impact on product delivery and developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate and maintain core capabilities and components of the Engineering Platform
  • Treat the Platform as a product with real customers
  • Design automation, tooling and self-service mechanisms to speed up product teams
  • Own and operate platform services end-to-end (Kubernetes, automation, CI/CD, Observability)
  • Provide technical support to product teams and feed learnings into the roadmap

Key requirements

  • Experience operating, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and contributing to system architecture
  • Expertise in storage, networking, IAM or related areas
  • Programming experience in Go, Python, JVM languages or similar
  • Experience with automation and version control
  • Experience managing Kubernetes deployments and writing operators/controllers
  • Experience delivering projects from design to production
  • Experience in cross-functional teams delivering shared outcomes in the software delivery lifecycle
  • Collaborative, cross-functional teamwork
  • Customer-focused consultancy to product teams
  • Ability to discuss business requirements with stakeholders
