Overview
In this role you lead development-related transport projects for a leading UK independent transport planning consultancy in London, providing technical leadership and client engagement. You will manage complex assignments, develop transport strategies, run forecasts and scenario testing, and mentor the team. You’ll apply standard tools and guidance to deliver TA/TP/AA work while supporting business development. This is a high-impact position with growth opportunities and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex development-related transport projects
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
- Develop transport strategies; conduct multi-modal trip generation, forecasting and scenario testing
- Provide technical guidance across transport planning and modelling
- Use industry tools such as TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions and LinSig
- Apply MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel guidance and Healthy Streets principles
- Manage project teams, delegate tasks, and oversee quality, programme, and budgets
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and stakeholders
- Represent clients at meetings, consultations and public inquiries
- Support business development, bids and identifying new opportunities
- Mentor and develop junior and senior team members
Key requirements
- Extensive experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
- Strong technical knowledge of transport planning, modelling and development proposals
- Experience using TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions, LinSig or similar software
- Good understanding of MfS, DMRB and LTN 1/20
- Experience managing projects and providing technical guidance to colleagues
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
- Proactive and commercially aware approach
- Ability to mentor and support more junior team members
- Membership of TPS, CIHT, ICE or CILT would be advantageous
