Overview

In this Group Tax Manager role, you lead the group’s tax compliance and advisory activities within a value‑led, UK‑based organisation. You will drive governance and robust controls across a complex portfolio, partnering with senior stakeholders to influence strategic decisions. You’ll manage relationships with HMRC and external advisers, while identifying tax‑efficient opportunities and system improvements. Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and submission of VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS, Gift Aid and Employment Tax returns
  • Act as primary contact for HMRC and manage tax correspondence
  • Provide technical tax support and advice to senior stakeholders
  • Support strategic projects and assess tax implications of business decisions
  • Manage relationships with external advisers and ensure timely information flow
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and accounting standards and assess impact
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and strengthen financial controls
  • Support statutory reporting processes and tax disclosures in accounts
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements and development of tax policies and procedures
  • Lead on complex tax consultations and technical projects across the group

Key requirements

  • Qualified finance professional with strong UK tax experience (industry or practice)
  • AC A, ACCA, CIMA, CTA or equivalent CCAB qualification
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax compliance (Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS)
  • Experience managing HMRC and external advisers
  • Ability to interpret tax legislation and communicate to non‑tax stakeholders
  • Experience identifying tax risks and delivering practical solutions
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Proactive, commercially minded with focus on continuous improvement
  • Additional experience in a regulated environment or professional tax qualification advantageous
