Overview

In this role you will lead the Integration Services capability for Internal Products, defining technical direction and building a sustainable shared services team. You will balance centralised reuse with domain autonomy, driving reliable, scalable integration across multiple platforms. You’ll shape architecture patterns, guide major transformation programmes, and foster collaboration with product and engineering leaders. This is an opportunity to influence FT’s enterprise technology estate and enable teams to connect systems safely and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Define technical direction and standards for enterprise integration across Internal Products
  • Lead the design and delivery of reusable integration services and platform capabilities
  • Establish ownership models, operating plans and governance for shared services
  • Provide senior technical leadership across major transformation programmes
  • Build and develop the Integration Services team, including engineering capability and ways of working
  • Set roadmaps, manage delivery plans, and balance centralisation with domain autonomy
  • Ensure security, resilience, observability, and long-term maintainability of integrations
  • Drive cross-domain collaboration and reuse while avoiding duplication
  • Oversee operational performance, monitoring, incident response, and reliability
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure partner-delivered work meets FT standards

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience as Principal Engineer or senior engineering leader within enterprise integration
  • Designing, building and operating scalable integration capabilities across multiple teams
  • Experience establishing reusable services or shared platform capabilities
  • Ability to define standards, patterns, and platform strategies across boundaries
  • Leadership of transformation programmes involving multiple platforms and teams
  • Strong cloud understanding, preferably AWS, and experience with enterprise SaaS integration
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, quality engineering, automation and engineering productivity
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority
  • Experience leading and developing senior engineers and building new teams
  • Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
