Overview

In this role you support Deloitte’s Insurance Audit & Assurance practice in London, focusing on improving the reliability and efficiency of financial reporting and internal controls for insurance clients. You will work with cross-functional teams to apply technical accounting expertise to IFRS, UK GAAP and regulatory standards, and help embed controls within finance transformations. The role offers exposure to large, influential clients and a path to senior capability in a fast-growing advisory area. You will contribute to high-quality reporting and the responsible governance of financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on IFRS/UK GAAP accounting matters and produce technical accounting papers
  • Support IFRS 9/17 interpretation, implementation and application
  • Assist with financial reporting processes for insurance clients
  • Advise on Solvency II methodology
  • Support insurance transformation projects and provide technical accounting input
  • Strengthen internal control environments including SOX controls
  • Design and assess controls across insurance processes
  • Embed controls in finance transformation programmes
  • Document end-to-end insurance processes linking risks, controls and reporting outcomes

Key requirements

  • Experience in Insurance Audit within a large Financial Services organisation or a finance function in the Insurance industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, and/or Solvency UK
  • Understanding of end-to-end insurance processes and associated risks
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks, control design and testing
  • Awareness of technology, AI and automation in finance transformation, including ERP and insurance tools
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Relevant professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or international equivalent)
  • Commercial awareness of current economic and market trends in insurance
  • Proven adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, transformational environments
  • Collaborative approach and strong team player mentality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholder engagement ability
