Overview

In this role you will lead day-to-day health, safety and quality activities within a manufacturing operation. You will maintain and evolve integrated management systems aligned to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders, operations, engineering, quality, and HR to strengthen safety culture and drive performance metrics. The position offers hands-on influence on projects, equipment changes, and contractor activity while supporting external audits and certifications. This is a practitioner role with a clear impact on risk reduction and process excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily health and safety activities across the manufacturing site
  • Maintain and improve the Health & Safety Management System per ISO 45001 and legislation
  • Support Quality Management System development aligned with ISO 9001 and customer requirements
  • Manage documentation: policies, procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work, audits, corrective actions
  • Plan and conduct internal health, safety and quality audits
  • Coordinate non-conformances and continuous improvement actions to closure
  • Lead investigations of accidents, near misses and process non-conformances using root cause analysis
  • Provide practical HSEQ support for engineering projects, new equipment, and contractor activities
  • Develop and deliver training, toolbox talks and communications
  • Monitor performance data, KPIs, audit findings and improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness including fire safety, drills, first aid
  • Support external certification and customer audits, and management reviews
  • Assist with environmental management activities when required

Key requirements

  • Degree in Health & Safety, Quality Management or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Around 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering or similar
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001
  • Experience conducting audits and managing corrective actions
  • Proven ability to investigate incidents and drive improvements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident influencing stakeholders at all levels
  • Practical, collaborative, shop-floor mindset
  • Experience with environmental systems is advantageous but not essential
