Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer – Leeds /Various

Overview

In this role you provide technical leadership for mechanical building services design across a diverse project portfolio. You manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring client requirements, schedules and regulatory standards are met. You’ll produce calculations, drawings, specifications and reports while guiding planning, coordinating with design teams and maintaining engineering excellence. You will mentor junior engineers and strengthen the team’s capability, delivering sustainable, high-quality solutions across sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of mechanical building services across multiple sectors
• Manage projects from concept to completion and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Produce and review calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports
• Support project planning, client coordination and regulatory compliance
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence across the team

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• Chartered or working towards professional accreditation
• Proven experience delivering mechanical design for complex building services
• Experience with digital engineering tools and sustainable design principles
• Strong communication and technical reporting skills
• Ability to lead technical work packages within multidisciplinary teams
