Overview

In this role you will provide commercially grounded planning guidance across multiple sectors within a growing Bristol team of a multidisciplinary property consultancy. You will manage planning applications, appeals and pre-application work, build strong client relationships, and contribute to business development. The position offers collaborative delivery, cross-disciplinary teamwork and opportunities to influence planning strategy and client outcomes. You will work on diverse projects, engaging with authorities and stakeholders to deliver high-quality planning advice and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercially astute planning advice across multiple sectors
  • Manage and progress planning applications, appeals and pre-application submissions
  • Prepare initial planning appraisals and strategic advice
  • Liaise with clients, Local Planning Authorities, consultees and stakeholders
  • Conduct site visits and attend client/project meetings
  • Attend planning committees and public consultations as needed
  • Prepare high-quality planning reports with clear recommendations
  • Manage projects within deadlines and budgets
  • Maintain QA standards and high delivery quality
  • Build client relationships and support repeat business and BD
  • Support business development through networking and identifying opportunities

Key requirements

  • Chartered RTPI membership or working towards chartership
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, legislation and procedures
  • Experience in a planning consultancy or similar environment
  • Experience with planning applications, appeals and/or pre-application advice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop clear planning arguments and communicate them confidently
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Commercially minded approach to client management and business development
