Overview
In this contract role, you design civil, structural, and cable drawings for substations and transmission projects to support Scotland’s energy transition. You will collaborate with Civil, Structural, Cable, and Electrical engineers within the Design Services team to deliver precise 2D/3D models and drawings. The role focuses on BIM workflows, model coordination, and maintaining drawing standards and quality. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering high-quality outputs for critical infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to contribute to a major five-year program upgrading the national transmission network.
Responsibilities
- Produce 2D/3D Civil, Structural & Cable drawings for substations and transmission projects
- Create GA layouts, RC detailing, duct & trench arrangements, drainage layouts, and structural details
- Support BIM workflows, model coordination, and drawing-standards compliance
- Update drawings from engineering markups and support design-change processes
- Collaborate with Civil, Structural, Cable and Electrical Engineering teams
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and documentation
Key requirements
- Strong understanding of civil/structural design and engineering drawing principles
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction requirements
- Experience producing plans, sections, elevations, schedules, and technical details
- Good communication skills and ability to manage workload
