Crude Operations Specialist – Leading Oil & Gas Major

Overview

In this role you will manage end-to-end physical crude cargo operations, focusing on North Sea cargoes and coordinating with traders, terminals and support functions. You will ensure timely nomination, delivery and documentation across the full crude lifecycle. The position sits in a dedicated operations team within an established international trading business, offering exposure to margin-sensitive, fast-paced execution. You will help optimise cost and disruption while maintaining strong controls and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Managing physical crude operations across North Sea and international cargoes
• Handling vessel nominations, voyage orders, documentary instructions, Letters of Credit, cargo insurance and vessel clearance
• Coordinating loading dates, quantities and terminal interfaces
• Managing operational and contractual aspects of BFOETM paper and chain activity
• Working across equity, third-party and traded crude cargoes
• Coordinating with terminals, refineries, inspection companies, counterparties and internal teams
• Supporting the management and resolution of demurrage, freight differentials, deviation costs and dead freight
• Identifying and resolving operational issues to minimise costs and disruption

Key requirements

• Experience in crude oil operations and understanding of the physical oil trading lifecycle
• Knowledge of North Sea crude operations and BFOETM terms
• Familiarity with spot and term crude contracts, lifting agreements, and cargo documentation
• Experience with Bills of Lading, inspections, Letters of Credit, voyage orders and customs
• Experience working with terminals, inspection companies and trading counterparties
