Overview

In this role you lead development-related transport planning projects within a leading independent consultancy in Leeds. You will own projects, manage client relationships, and contribute to team growth while delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and multi-modal strategies. You’ll guide projects from initial assessment through delivery, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with Highway Authorities. The role offers senior leadership, business development and a clear path to Associate level, with hybrid and flexible working.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development transport planning projects from conception to delivery
  • Prepare/review Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Environmental Statement chapters
  • Develop transport strategies and assess multi-modal trip generation
  • Perform transport analysis and modelling using Junctions and LinSig
  • Manage highway design elements and apply MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20 guidance
  • Lead client relationships and represent the consultancy in meetings with Highway Authorities
  • Manage project budgets, resources and programmes
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Identify opportunities to add value and foster long-term client relationships
  • Contribute to business development, fee proposals and pitches
  • Mentor junior/mid-level planners and support internal training
  • Support growth initiatives in the Leeds market

Key requirements

  • Around 5–8 years’ experience in development-related transport planning
  • Consultancy or relevant local authority background
  • Proven delivery of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and development projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport planning policy and development principles
  • Experience with Junctions, LinSig, Excel and DfT Connectivity Tool
  • Knowledge of MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel/Healthy Streets guidance
  • Strong project management and client-facing skills
  • Professional membership of TPS, CIHT, ICE, CILT or relevant body
  • Chartered status/CTP or progression towards chartership desirable
  • Business development and client relationship experience advantageous
