Strategic Planning & Portfolio Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead and optimize operational planning and PMO governance for Amex GBT, aligning capacity, resources, and roadmaps with travel demand. You’ll manage a portfolio of cross-functional projects, set standards for project delivery, and drive data-driven performance reporting. You will partner with reservations, service centers, supplier operations, and senior leadership to ensure timely execution and realized benefits. Responsibilities

• Lead annual and rolling planning cycles including capacity and workforce planning
• Develop and maintain the operations roadmap with cross-team visibility
• Establish governance cadences and track actions to closure
• Manage a portfolio of cross-functional projects from initiation to benefits realization
• Define and enforce project management standards and templates
• Track budgets, timelines, resources, and risks; escalate as needed
• Facilitate governance meetings and produce executive-ready status reports
• Design operational performance reporting (SLAs, KPIs, productivity, quality) for data-driven decisions
• Communicate plans, progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders including senior leadership

Key requirements

• 5+ years in PMO, project/program management, or operational planning
• Experience in travel, travel management, aviation, hospitality, or service-intensive industries
• Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
• Strong knowledge of PM methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid) and PMO governance
• Experience with capacity/resource planning in operations or contact-center environments
• Advanced proficiency in planning tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Monday.com) and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills
