Overview
In this role you will lead the UCL Bioinformatics Group’s IntegraTED workstream, driving the PSIPRED Workbench’s evolution and the TED data pipeline. You will collaborate with the CATH team to deliver a unified web platform for protein structure and function resources, and explore ML applications to enhance workflow reliability. The position combines software engineering leadership with cutting-edge bioinformatics research in a collaborative academic setting.

Responsibilities
- Improve reliability and performance of ML-driven PSIPRED Workbench workflows
- Integrate novel bioinformatics foundation models to accelerate methods
- Develop and maintain a new web interface for the IntegraTED resource
- Collaborate with the CATH team on the unified web portal
- Advance TED data generation pipeline for AlphaFoldDB domains
- Lead long-term software engineering efforts for PSIPRED Workbench
- Contribute to novel ML applications in the space
Key requirements
- Software development experience in academia
- Willingness to learn across ML-Ops and bioinformatics
- Proficiency in at least one scientific computing language (e.g., Python, Julia)
- Interest in software engineering best practices (source control, testing)
- Ability to lead large, long-standing projects
