Overview
As Head of Lighting, you will be the technical expert for your discipline within the Production team, leading pre-planning, on-site management, and post-show activities for large live events. You will mentor technicians, collaborate with project teams and suppliers, and drive innovative, high-quality AV systems to maximise profitability and client satisfaction. The role blends hands-on technical depth with leadership and project management in a globally active organisation. Responsibilities
- Partner with senior planners and clients to design and pre-plan the discipline across events
- Produce technical drawings, production plans, labour needs, budgets, and equipment interfaces
- Support other departments with technology recommendations and process improvements
- Manage on-site production plans, budgets, and safety standards to deliver world-class service
- Lead and mentor the assigned crew, ensuring safety and adherence to standards
- Oversee post-show activities: labour, expenses, rentals, equipment maintenance, and reporting
- Ensure client equipment setup works as required and meet client expectations
- Manage performance and development of team members, including training on Encore standards and company systems
Key requirements
- BA/BS Degreed or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in live large venue AV
- 5+ years of expert-level technical skill in a discipline
- 2+ years crew lead experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Advanced problem solving
- Ability to travel up to 75%
