Overview

In this Electrical Engineer role at Keadby Power Station, you will safeguard asset integrity, optimise maintenance, and drive project delivery to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You’ll work within SSE Thermal to align with station strategies and contribute to both short- and long-term plans. The role challenges you to improve performance while shaping how we approach maintenance and engineering projects in a carbon-conscious energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Strategically manage electrical asset integrity across the station
• Define and implement proactive maintenance plans including resource planning and budgeting, with contractor oversight
• Lead engineering projects from financial justification through commissioning, aligning with SSE and station strategies
• Maintain and optimise plant performance focusing on safety, reliability, and efficiency
• Provide technical support and maintain accurate engineering records in compliance with legal and company standards

Key requirements

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
• Previous experience in power station maintenance
• Extensive experience with HV/LV switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, SFCs & associated protection systems
• Understanding of SHE standards; NEBOSH certification advantageous
• Proficiency in Maximo and other IT tools and financial reporting systems
• Demonstrated ability to challenge conventional thinking and implement innovative solutions
