Overview

In this role you will be the strategic and financial lead for Waterloo Medical Centre, guiding long-term sustainability and growth. You will partner with GP Partners to oversee business development, governance, and digital transformation while ensuring safe, high-quality primary care. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, drive efficiency, and steward major estates and innovation projects. This is a senior, influential position with a structured handover and a chance to shape primary care in a growing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership and business development to implement the practice’s long-term plans
  • Oversee financial management including budgeting, reporting, and forecasting
  • Contract management and performance monitoring across PMS, Enhanced Services, PCN, and other services
  • Workforce planning, succession, recruitment support, and staff wellbeing
  • Governance, risk, and compliance management including CQC readiness
  • Estates and facilities development and management of capital projects
  • Digital transformation leadership and adoption of AI and other technologies
  • Provide strategic direction to the Practice Manager, Operations Manager and Reception/Admin Manager
  • Lead change programs and service redesign initiatives
  • Stakeholder relationship management with ICB, NHS England, PCN, GP Federation, LMC and others
  • Ensure service delivery remains patient-centred, safe, and financially sustainable
  • Oversee procurement and cost efficiency initiatives
  • Support management teams in leveraging digital tools and practice systems
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation
  • Act as a senior ambassador for the practice with external partners

Key requirements

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent management experience
  • Significant senior management experience within healthcare, primary care or related environment
  • Strong financial and budget management skills
  • Experience in strategic planning and organisational development
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Knowledge of NHS primary care contracts and funding streams
  • Understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
