Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor you will oversee commercial delivery for a portfolio of energy infrastructure projects across the SPEN framework, based in Motherwell. You will work with operations to manage costs, value, and risk, and to optimise subcontractor engagement and supply chain performance. You will support NEC contract administration and change control while mentoring junior team members. This role offers exposure to critical projects that underpin the UK’s low-carbon transition and energy resilience.

Responsibilities
- Manage commercial aspects from inception to final account on assigned projects
- Produce cost forecasts, cost value reconciliations, and financial reports
- Administer NEC contracts and support contract compliance
- Procure and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Measure and value works per contract requirements
- Prepare/review Bills of Quantities, schedules of rates, and estimates
- Support change control, compensation events, and commercial risk management
- Review project programmes for commercial impact of delays
- Ensure governance and commercial best practices are followed
- Mentor junior commercial team members and liaise with clients and stakeholders
Key requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or equivalent
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction, civil engineering, or utilities
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project locations
- Desirable: Chartered status or working towards accreditation (RICS/CIOB/ICES)
