Overview

In this role you will design mechanical building services for rail stations, depots and related infrastructure, delivering practical, compliant solutions. You will work within the established M&E design team on a busy rail portfolio, collaborating with other disciplines to integrate HVAC, ventilation, heating and cooling systems. The position offers hybrid working and exposure to major infrastructure projects, with a path toward professional registration. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape impactful rail assets and advance your building services career in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical building services designs for stations, depots and infrastructure
  • Size and select equipment, perform mechanical calculations
  • Produce specifications, calculations, drawings and technical documentation
  • Review existing installations and design upgrade solutions
  • Support surveys and assessments of assets
  • Ensure constructability, maintainability and integration with existing systems
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural and other disciplines
  • Support project design lifecycle and client communication

Key requirements

  • Mechanical engineering experience in building services design
  • Practical design experience across HVAC, ventilation, heating and/or cooling
  • Experience producing mechanical calculations, specifications and documentation
  • Understanding of building services design principles and standards
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary design environment
  • Rail experience preferred but not essential
  • Ability to assess existing installations and develop practical solutions
  • Strong technical, analytical and communication skills
  • Interest in progressing toward professional registration
