Overview

In this role you will lead Monzo’s internal risk product platform within the Controls Discipline, shaping how we automate risk lifecycles and enable safe growth. You’ll bridge Product, Risk, Data and Engineering to turn manual risk processes into self-serve, data-driven solutions. You’ll prototype AI-enabled tools, build real-time risk intelligence, and drive adoption across risk owners. This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of tech and risk, offering meaningful impact on how we ship safely at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Controls Product Roadmap and backlog to replace manual cycles with data-driven platforms
  • Hands-on prototyping and automation of workflows, APIs, and low-code/no-code solutions
  • Pioneer AI adoption in risk management using LLM prompts, agents, and automation tools
  • Design real-time risk monitoring with data triggers and instant risk owner alerts
  • Drive product enablement and adoption with intuitive UI/UX and self-serve workflows
  • Lead delivery momentum across a small team of data/automation specialists and remove blockers

Key requirements

  • Product-minded thinking with focus on user problems, prioritization, and MVP shipping
  • Hands-on capability with data and automation (SQL, Python or similar, APIs, low-code tools) to build a prototype
  • AI-curious and practical with experience experimenting with AI/LLMs to automate tasks
  • Strong understanding of risk concepts (control design, RCSAs, issue management) and translating them into tech solutions
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to operate from first principles in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leading teams through change programmes, preferably in Financial Services Controls
  • Collaborative and supportive approach across multiple stakeholders and teams
  • Enthusiasm for Monzo’s mission and active contribution to the role
