Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor in our Aberdeen team, you will own the commercial management of projects from tender through final account. You collaborate with project teams, clients and subcontractors to keep costs on track and deliver within budgets. You will prepare budgets, cost plans and forecasts, and guide procurement choices and valuation processes. This role sits at the core of project success, balancing risk, cost control and commercial reporting to support on-time delivery and value for money.

Responsibilities
- Prepare budget estimates, cost plans and project forecasts
- Review project documentation to understand requirements
- Develop accurate cost estimates and pricing submissions
- Support procurement activities and advise on procurement strategies
- Prepare tender documentation and subcontract packages
- Obtain and analyse supplier/subcontractor quotations for value
- Monitor expenditure and manage variations
- Produce commercial reports incl. forecasts and margin analysis
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial planning
- Prepare interim valuations and payment applications
- Negotiate final accounts with clients/subcontractors
- Conduct site visits and measurements as needed
- Provide commercial guidance to project teams
- Monitor contractual obligations and compliance
- Assist in contractor/supplier selection and performance management
- Support invoicing, payment tracking and debt management
- Maintain accurate commercial records and data
- Work with operations to achieve commercial objectives
- Contribute to continuous improvement in the commercial function
- Incorporate health, safety and environmental considerations into decisions
Key requirements
- Degree, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- Demonstrable experience in construction
- Strong understanding of commercial management and cost control
- Experience with multiple procurement methods and delivery models
- Knowledge of standard construction contracts and procedures
- Proven experience from tender to final account
- Ability to prepare cost estimates, valuations and reports
- Experience liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
