Senior Program Manager, Frontier Strategy and Governance, DeepMind Institute, DeepMind

Overview

Lead and manage end-to-end delivery of frontier AI strategy and governance initiatives. Partner with team leads and cross-functional partners to shape workstreams, translate ideas into actionable objectives, and drive progress to completion. Align with research scientists, policy colleagues, and executives to build structures that accelerate high-stakes research and governance programs. Oversee the executive operating rhythm, manage fast-turn requests, and ensure decisions translate into action while improving processes and information flows using data and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, time-bound initiatives within frontier AI strategy and governance
• Partner with team leads and cross-functional stakeholders to shape workstream direction and project plans
• Collaborate with research scientists, strategy and policy teams, and executives to accelerate high-stakes initiatives
• Run the operating rhythm for executive-facing work, including preparation and tracking of leadership sessions
• Manage fast-turn leadership requests and ensure decisions follow through
• Navigate ambiguity, identify dependencies, mitigate risks, and implement solutions for operational challenges
• Review and improve processes and information flows, leveraging data and AI tools to resolve pain points
• Design and implement cross-functional operating frameworks from the ground up
• Influence executive leadership to shape program strategy and translate goals into actionable plans
• Support change management efforts within tech, policy, or government contexts

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of experience in program management and end-to-end delivery of time-bound initiatives
• Experience with AGI landscape, AI safety, technical foresight, or tech policy
• Experience designing operational frameworks and cross-functional processes
• Experience partnering with and influencing executive leadership
• Experience navigating ambiguity in technical, policy, or government environments
