P & C Senior Legal Counsel

Overview

In this role you will provide expert technical legal support to SCOR’s P&C Business Unit across EMEA, focusing on treaty, alternative solutions, and single risk underwriting. You will drive commercially viable contract wording and sanctions compliance, help build and maintain P&C wordings tools, and advise on regulatory challenges to support growth and risk mitigation. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into robust legal solutions, while embodying SCOR’s values.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal support for complex contract wording and commercial terms in P&C Treaty and related lines
• Handle phase 2 sanctions clearance referrals and ensure regulatory compliance
• Support development and maintenance of SCOR’s P&C contract wording tool and related wordings
• Participate in product development and market-entry activities with contractual input
• Deliver training to underwriters on legal concepts and wording
• Identify legal/regulatory roadblocks and develop practical solutions to enable business growth
• Manage negotiations with external partners and advise on risk implications
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and communicate complex legal concepts clearly

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in (re)insurance contract wording and legal support
• Strong academic record; law degree or equivalent; licensed to practice in an EMEA jurisdiction in good standing
• Ability to reactivate legal membership if needed; non-lawyers considered with strong contract wording expertise
• Several years of relevant experience in P&C legal environment
