Overview
As Powerplant Engineer, you will lead the Naval gas turbine lifecycle strategy, delivering technical support across in-service products and ensuring Design Intent is met. You will work with the Naval Lifecycle engineering team to maintain safe, reliable, and cost-effective attributes through life modelling of reliability, deterioration, and costs. You will influence maturity across the product lifecycle and support cost reduction through robust lifecycle policies. This role offers impact on naval propulsion systems within Rolls-Royce’s high-performance culture and transformational programme.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for queries and safety issues, participating in safety boards as defined in the Safety Management Plan
- Predict safety and reliability performance using statistical methods and support Numerical Risk Assessment and fly-forward analysis
- Set and monitor reliability targets, and collaborate with customers to obtain data
- Manage issues affecting maturity, lifecycle cost, reliability, maintainability, and design intent
- Identify and lead cost reduction opportunities; review lifecycle policies and maintenance planning
- Support the creation of the Service Operation Validation Strategy
- Prepare and deliver technical communications to platform providers, regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify requirements for new Health Monitoring System and lead its integration
- Ensure regulatory and internal/external stakeholder requirements are met; act as Technical Authority where delegated
- Gather in-service data and drive continuous improvement feeding back to Naval Lifecycle and design teams
Key requirements
- Engineering or Numerical degree (or equivalent with experience)
- Knowledge of components/systems functionality and numerical methods
- Experience on complex, novel, ambiguous tasks
- Familiarity with in-service operation environment, regulatory/compliance requirements
- Troubleshooting and problem-resolution experience
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams (specialists, suppliers, customers, partners)
- Engineering judgment to identify reliability issues, root cause, and costed solutions
- Commercial awareness of Naval contract constructs and improvement opportunities
