We’re looking for a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Kier Design team based in various locations. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth – agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desiredHours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

  • Working towards or have completed IEng Initial Professional Development with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE) with relevant experience
  • Holding a Level 6 or Level 7 qualification with relevant experience in engineering
  • Someone with demonstrable experience in construction engineering services
  • Able to lead project delivery and manage workloads effectively
  • In possession of a full driving licence

What will you be responsible for?

As a Temporary Works Design Engineer, you’ll be working within the Kier Design team, supporting them in delivering complex construction engineering services. This is an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of complex construction engineering services across a broad range of projects. You’ll be supporting the team in providing safe and buildable solutions, working on temporary works design, tender support, value engineering, technical assessments, and resolution of construction issues. Your role will involve leading project delivery, developing client relationships, and acting as a centre of engineering excellence to enhance our reputation for delivering outstanding engineered outcomes.

Your day to day will include:

  • Leading temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works design as applicable
  • Supporting tender and bid winning activities including outline design schemes and feasibility studies
  • Managing project delivery, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies
  • Developing positive relationships with clients and design teams, acting as lead representative at meetings
  • Overseeing the production of design deliverables including calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments
