Client Manager – Sustainability Auditor & Verifier

Overview

In this role, you act as the client-facing auditor for BSI, assessing client management systems against standards and regulatory requirements to drive performance improvements. You prepare verification opinions and management system assessment reports, supporting clients with clear conclusions and corrective actions. You lead and coach audit teams, uphold BSI’s reputation, and help turn assessments into value for clients and the business. You will work flexibly across the UK with travel to sites as needed, contributing to BSI’s mission of positive change for people and the planet.

Responsibilities

• Conduct verifications under regulated and voluntary schemes (UK ETS, EU CBAM, ISO 14064-1, ISO 14068-1) and related reporting standards
• Create verification opinions and deliver to clients
• Perform independent technical reviews of others’ verification work
• Deliver audits for ISO 14001 / ISO 50001 and related schemes
• Recommend certificate actions within policy and timelines
• Prepare assessment reports and communicate findings with corrective actions
• Lead assessment teams when required and ensure quality of service
• Build effective client partnerships to support satisfaction and business development
• Plan workloads to maximise revenue and ensure timely, accurate information to service teams
• Coach colleagues and maintain professional qualifications
• Engage with Delivery Team and stakeholders for continual improvement at BSI

Key requirements

• Third-party verification experience for regulated schemes (e.g., UK ETS)
• Third-party verification experience for greenhouse gas schemes (ISO 14064-1, ISO 14068-1)
• Proven audits experience for ISO 14001 and/or ISO 50001
• Minimum 2 years’ work experience in management systems in the relevant sector
• Degree in a relevant area
• Lead Auditor training and qualification for ISO 14001 or ISO 50001

• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Excellent report writing and stakeholder engagement
• Organised and self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions and GHG reduction technologies
• Understanding of management system standards and interpretation for operations
• Data management and documentation skills
