As Software Engineering Manager in the M&S Platform team, you will lead the AI Engineering platform to streamline development for 200+ engineers and 30+ applications. You’ll guide technical vision, build reusable pipelines and tooling, and contribute code, empowering digital products and a superior developer experience. You’ll shepherd engineering excellence, talent, and strategic alignment while partnering with vendors and senior engineers to deliver reliable, scalable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Drive engineering excellence across your teams, covering technical direction, production solutions, and growth
• Lead self-management and accountability through purposeful leadership and talent management
• Align with the broader technical strategy and shape it with the Technology organisation
• Act as platform owner, applying product thinking to enable digital products via data and user-centricity
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to maintain strategic alignment and big-thinking
• Line manage Staff and Senior Engineers, oversee recruitment and retention
• Own and drive OKRs within your hub
• Support engineering communities to progress their agendas efficiently
• Be the primary technical partner for vendors when engaged

Key requirements

• Extensive hands-on senior software engineering background
• Strong knowledge of AI coding tools and agentic technologies
• Experience leading teams of senior engineers delivering high-quality software
• Solid understanding of system design, architecture, cloud, and standard software engineering practices
• DevOps advocate: build it, run it
• Experience with testing strategies and reliability engineering
• Excellent people, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead and influence senior engineers and technical partners toward outcomes
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences
