Embedded Software Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver embedded software designs for rail electronics, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance to industry and EU standards. You will work with the Engineering Head and Services team to meet customer deadlines and drive innovation in embedded software. You’ll adopt best practices, maintain safety and quality standards, and contribute to cross-functional projects in a collaborative railway environment. This is a hands-on position with meaningful impact on safe, efficient mobility solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software designs for project-specific electronics to meet deadlines
• Deliver high-quality embedded software focusing on performance, reliability and cost
• Ensure compliance with latest industry-specific and EU regulations
• Maintain design standards and promote continuous improvement in embedded software practices
• Comply with design, quality, and Health & Safety regulations; report issues promptly
• Coordinate with engineering and customer teams to align on requirements and deliverables

Key requirements

• Substantial embedded software design experience in an electronics context
• Knowledge of rail industry and associated standards advantageous
• Degree-level education in Software Engineering or related subject
• Driven, disciplined, self-motivated, team-oriented, strong communicator
• Excellent technical, problem solving and continuous improvement skills
• High customer focus and 100% compliance with design, quality and HSE regulations
