Overview

In this role you lead Dow Jones Energy’s research program on global energy markets, shaping analytics for investors, analysts, and traders. You drive new research products and oversee forecasting and market intelligence across oil, gas, NGLs, and refined products. You will coordinate with external suppliers, engage industry stakeholders, and guide content strategy for weekly and monthly reports. You’ll work with cross‑functional teams to expand client-driven insights and represent the firm at events and client meetings. This is a high‑impact leadership position at the nexus of market research, data quality, and business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of new energy market research products (oil, gas, NGLs, refined products)
  • Direct primary research and analysis for new service launches
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and oversee energy price forecasting
  • Build industry reputation and deploy SMEs to events, media, client engagements and internal functions
  • Manage and mentor a large multidisciplinary team (10+ direct reports)
  • Identify and articulate core issues in complex problems to deliver insights
  • Collaborate with sales to uncover new business opportunities
  • Coordinate market content for consulting projects and client development
  • Advise content leaders on topics to enhance reports and analyses
  • Present market insights in client meetings and conferences
  • Actively market energy and feedstock services
  • Ensure adherence to price discovery standards
  • Contribute to team dynamics for global coverage
  • Serve as a stakeholder for marquee value chain events

Key requirements

  • Substantial upstream, downstream, and/or midstream industry experience with market intelligence or strategic planning
  • Experience managing 10+ direct reports and mentoring multi-disciplinary experts
  • Ability to identify core issues in complex problems and deliver actionable insights
  • Experience managing ambiguity with minimal direction
  • Strong MS Office, PowerBI, Spotfire and/or Tableau
  • Advanced Excel (VBA scripting; Python knowledge is a plus)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Chemical engineering, chemistry, business or economics degree or equivalent work experience (post-graduate data science or engineering qualifications may be considered)
