Senior PHP Developer

Overview

In this role you will strengthen our senior development capability, focusing on PHP/MySQL on Linux to optimize performance while guiding the development team. You’ll collaborate with a passionate in‑house team to scale a high‑end e‑commerce platform, contribute to planning, architecture reviews, and the road map, and help remove bottlenecks under the Tech Director’s guidance. This role offers leadership exposure and hands‑on coding, with a meaningful impact on system performance and product growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise PHP/MySQL on Linux to improve performance
• Contribute to spec writing and project planning with PMs
• Conduct code reviews and provide architectural overview and implementation guidance
• Drive the company road map and technical direction
• Lead development tasks and, if applicable, manage a team to meet tight deadlines
• Collaborate with in‑house developers to grow a scalable e‑commerce platform

Key requirements

• 8+ years of commercial PHP/MySQL experience
• Strong Linux/LAMP background
• MVC, ORM, and unit testing experience
• Proficient HTML/CSS/XHTML and JQuery
• Experience with caching technologies (MemCached, Redis, Varnish)
• Excellent English communication, both written and oral
• Proven ability to proactively lead development teams and guide technical direction
• Ability to work independently or in a team and meet deadlines
• Advantageous: Apache Mod Rewrite, Linux command line, server administration, ecommerce experience, Smarty
