Overview
In this role you will lead a strategic review of network security across a global estate, acting as the SME on architecture and controls. You’ll partner with security leadership, architects, and operations to assess current posture, identify gaps, and shape a future-state network security strategy. Your work supports reduced risk, stronger compliance, and higher resilience while you influence security direction in a large enterprise. Responsibilities
- Act as the technical SME for network security architecture and controls
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the organisation’s network security landscape
- Assess existing network security controls, governance processes, and operational procedures
- Identify security weaknesses, control gaps, and resilience improvements
- Review connectivity, access control, and network security request processes
- Evaluate effectiveness of current security tooling and technologies
- Provide recommendations to strengthen security posture and reduce exposure to incidents
- Support investment and roadmap planning for future network security initiatives
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders
- Produce technical assessments, reports, recommendations, and architecture artefacts
- Support security assurance and compliance activities
- Advise on network security best practices, standards, and emerging threats
- Contribute to future-state network security architecture and strategy
Key requirements
- Proven experience as Senior Network Security Consultant, Security Architect, Enterprise Security Architect, or similar consultancy role
- Extensive experience conducting network security reviews, assessments, and architecture evaluations in complex environments
- Experience with: Palo Alto Networks, Meraki, SolarWinds
- Strong understanding of network security architecture, controls, and operational security principles
- Experience identifying security risks, control weaknesses, and resilience opportunities
- Knowledge of network segmentation, firewalls, secure connectivity, access controls, and threat mitigation
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, architects, and technical teams
- Ability to translate technical findings into strategic recommendations and investment plans
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and advisory skills
- Experience supporting governance, assurance, and compliance activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Nice-to-have: Enterprise Architect/Lead Security Architect background, consultancy experience, global estates experience, regulated environments
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, Zero Trust; relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, Palo Alto Certifications, CCNP Security, TOGAF
