As a Commercial Relationship Manager, you will combine strong commercial judgement, relationship expertise and credit acumen to deliver outstanding customer outcomes. By building meaningful connections, identifying growth opportunities and balancing risk with reward, you will play a key role in growing Metro Bank’s Commercial Banking business and strengthening our reputation as the UK’s community bank for businesses.

What will you be doing?

  • Build and grow a portfolio of Commercial Banking customers through trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers’ businesses and provide tailored banking solutions that support their ambitions.
  • Act as a trusted adviser, supporting customers with lending, deposits, treasury and wider banking needs.
  • Generate sustainable portfolio growth through proactive relationship management and business development.
  • Attract new-to-bank customers and build strong networks with professional introducers and local business communities.
  • Complete credit applications, annual reviews and lending assessments to support customer growth and portfolio performance.
  • Analyse financial information, monitor customer performance and manage credit risk across your portfolio.
  • Collaborate with specialist teams and colleagues across Metro Bank to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.

And… we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns.

What will you need?

  • Proven experience managing and growing customer relationships within Commercial Banking or Business Banking.
  • A strong track record of delivering commercial, customer and risk outcomes.
  • Experience analysing financial information and supporting commercial lending decisions.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending, credit risk assessment and portfolio management.
  • Strong business development and networking skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive sustainable growth.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging business owners, senior stakeholders and professional introducers.
  • The ability to influence, challenge constructively and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong commercial judgement, accountability and a customer-focused approach within a regulated environment.

Our Promise to You

  • You’ll join a bank that is redefining relationship banking, creating meaningful connections with customers, colleagues and communities.
  • We’ll empower you to lead with autonomy, own the success of your store and make a genuine impact on customer and colleague experiences.
  • We’ll invest in your growth through ongoing learning, leadership development and opportunities to broaden your experience.
  • You’ll be part of an inclusive culture that values individuality, celebrates diverse perspectives and encourages everyone to bring their authentic self to work. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is fundamental to who we are and how we serve our customers.
  • We’ll reward your contribution with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous holiday allowance, pension, healthcare, life assurance and a range of colleague benefits.

At Metro Bank, we’re building the future of relationship banking. If you’re an inspiring leader with a passion for people, community and customer service, and you’re excited by the opportunity to make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
