Property Services Manager – Gateshead

£29.18 PAYE / £39.58 Umbrella Location: Local Authority Contract: Temporary / Interim Hours: Full-time

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Property Services Manager to join an anonymous Local Authority on an interim basis. This is a senior professional property role and would suit someone with a strong background in property management, valuation, acquisitions/disposals and strategic asset management , rather than a general Facilities Manager. The successful candidate will provide professional property advice to the Council, lead a team of professional and technical staff and contribute to the strategic management of the Council’s property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of property management, valuation and real estate services.
  • Provide professional advice on property acquisitions, disposals and valuations.
  • Contribute to the strategic management of the Council’s property assets.
  • Manage and develop the Council’s non-operational property portfolio.
  • Lead, manage and develop professional and technical property staff.
  • Support the development and implementation of asset management strategies and policies.
  • Manage property-related projects from inception through to completion.
  • Manage dedicated budgets, ensuring value for money and effective use of resources.
  • Prepare reports and provide professional property advice to senior officers and stakeholders.
  • Represent the service at internal and external meetings where required.
  • Ensure statutory, legislative, health & safety and best practice requirements are met.
  • Support the Service Director with the management and delivery of the wider property service.

Requirements

  • Strong professional property background covering valuation, acquisitions, disposals and property management .
  • Experience managing non-operational property portfolios .
  • Experience of strategic asset management .
  • Previous experience leading and managing professional/technical property teams .
  • Strong knowledge of relevant property, land and valuation legislation .
  • Experience of project and budget management .
  • Experience providing professional property advice at a senior level .
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills .
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification .
  • RICS membership preferred , although candidates working towards membership may be considered .
  • Full UK driving licence or access to suitable mobility arrangements .

Desirable

  • Previous Local Authority experience.
  • Knowledge of Local Authority valuation processes.
  • Previous experience working within a Local Government property service.
  • Management qualification.
