This temporary Production Line/Machine Operator role with Manpower UK sits at a global FMCG facility in Port Sunlight. Working 37.5 hours weekly on a 5-crew shift rotation, the successful candidate covers 12-hour days and nights across Monday to Sunday, with rest blocks of up to six days.


Starting pay is £20.28 hourly, rising to £22.53 once training is completed. Bank holidays and annual leave are incorporated into the rota, which features an 18-day paid break.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a leading global FMCG company, are currently looking for a Line Operator to work in their prestigious facility in Port Sunlight. This is a Temporary position, with an immediate start. The pay rate will be £20.28 an hour on basis of 37.5 hours per week, rising to £22.53 an hour as a Machine Operator following successful completion of the training journey.


Applicants need mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and flexibility for shift work.


Reporting to the Run to Standards Leader, the successful applicant will have a pro-active approach to problem solving and fault finding on a high-speed production line to improve operational efficiency and drive area performance. With a positive attitude to change, they will be able to analyse technical/mechanical problems in the area, research, suggest, communicate, and implement improvement ideas. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for the importance of maintaining high quality and hygiene standards and will ensure that they comply with safety standards and adhere to site regulations. They will be a relationship builder, with the ability to communicate their opinions both verbally and in writing to colleagues and managers alike. They will work effectively within the team to achieve and exceed both factory and team targets set within the business.


Applicants must be available to work shifts that may fall Monday to Sunday following a 5-crew shift pattern: 2 x 12-hour days then 2 x 12-hour nights then up to 6 days off 2 x 12-hr days then 2 x 12-hour nights then up to 4 off (July-September). Bank holidays and annual leave are built into the shift pattern which includes an 18 day paid break. During the off periods there are requirements to be on call if absence cover is required. These are limited during the year depending on shift pattern.


Key responsibilities



  • Checking Objects, work, procedures, etc.

  • Checking completed work to current site quality standards.

  • Checking adherence to schedules.

  • Understand benefits of achieving site KPI”s.

  • Creating good team spirit.

  • Analyzing/Integrating/Interpreting: Identifying problems in physical process/machinery.

  • Breaking down a procedure into logical steps.

  • Summarising numerical andamp; verbal information.

  • Reading plans/diagrams.

  • Handling information: Entering details into system, ascertaining job requirements.


Required Experience/Qualifications



  • Experience within a Production or Manufacturing environment or be able to demonstrate an educational background with Manufacturing or Engineering focus.

  • Fault Finding and an eye for detail.

  • Previous qualifications and experience within a mechanical or technical environment – advantageous but not essential.

  • FLT license (RTITB / ITSSAR accredited) is desirable but not essential.

  • A good standard of IT literacy – highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of SAP systems – beneficial.
