We are currently working on behalf of a specialist school in Leeds to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.
The school has identified the need for a strong male role model within the team to help engage and support students effectively, providing consistency, structure and positive influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to students
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions
- Promote positive behaviour strategies in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders
- Encourage participation, engagement and personal development
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour
- Calm, resilient and patient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain composed in challenging situations
- Backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care or similar are highly desirable
