Occupational Health Technician – Peripatetic
Location: Northeast EnglandSalary: £26,000–£27,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualificationsHours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per weekTravel: Regular travel and overnight stays
The Role
We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable Occupational Health Technicians to join a growing peripatetic team.
You’ll travel across the UK in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), visiting client sites and delivering health surveillance services across a variety of industries. This is a hands‑on role offering excellent exposure to occupational health, with a comprehensive 4-week training and induction programme, followed by ongoing mentoring and support.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver health surveillance screenings, including audiometry and lung function testing
- Carry out baseline measurements including height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis
- Accurately record clinical and occupational health information
- Collect and document biometric data to support clinical decision‑making
- Ensure all equipment is clean, maintained and fit for purpose
- Support health promotion activities and wider occupational health services
- Work closely with nurses, physicians and the wider clinical team
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality and GDPR compliance
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is organised, approachable and confident working independently, with excellent communication and time‑management skills.
Previous experience in healthcare would be advantageous, particularly from roles such as:
- Healthcare Support Worker
- Emergency Care Assistant
- Ambulance Technician / Assistant
- Emergency Care Technician
- Army Medic
We would also welcome applications from Sports Science graduates looking to take their first step into occupational health, provided you have experience carrying out baseline health measurements.
You’ll need to be comfortable travelling extensively, working to deadlines and spending periods of time away from home.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Licence held for a minimum of 12 months
- Minimum age of 21
- Ability to provide a valid driving licence share code
- Experience or understanding of baseline health measurements
- Ability to work away from home regularly
- Ability to park the MMU at or near your home address overnight
Travel & Overnight Stays
This is a genuinely mobile role, with regular travel
You should expect to be away from home for approximately 3 weeks out of every 4, although you will normally return home on Friday for the weekend.
