1-1 Support Assistant – Leeds

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a 1:1 Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive special school in the Leeds area on a long‑term basis.

This full‑time role is available to start September with shortlisting currently underway. The school is dedicated to providing a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can achieve both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting a pupil with SEND on a 1:1 basis, helping them engage positively in lessons and the wider school environment




• Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities and differentiated support




• Implementing behaviour management strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and individual support plans




• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support pupil progress and wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, or support work




• Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally in a special school or similar setting




• Strong knowledge of behaviour management, de‑escalation strategies, and emotional regulation approaches




• Two professional references, ideally from education or school‑based settings
