A specialist SEN school in Bury is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 2 Learning Support Assistant – SEMH Specialist to join their team on a long-term basis. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring every pupil receives the personalised support they need to thrive.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs within a specialist SEN setting
  • Assisting with learning, communication, social development and emotional regulation
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils develop independence
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils’ development
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support
  • Creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment for pupils
  • A specialist SEN setting with a strong support network
  • A welcoming and experienced staff team, This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and looking to develop their experience within a specialist SEN setting.
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a relevant equivalent
  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or SEMH setting
  • Be patient, calm and nurturing in their approach
  • Be confident supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Be proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have full-time availability for the duration of the role
  • Hold a valid child and adult workforce DBS
